Rolfing® Structural Integration is an original and scientifically validated form of hands-on bodywork developed over 60 years ago by Dr. Ida Rolf.  Dr. Rolf discovered that she could achieve remarkable changes in posture and structure by manipulating the body's myofascial system (the muscles and the connective tissue called fascia which surrounds and penetrates the muscles and all other structures of the body) and eventually named her work Structural Integration.

"Rolfing" is the nickname that many clients and practitioners gave this work, and it is now a registered service mark in 38 countries.  Dr. Ida Rolf founded the Dr. Ida Rolf Institute of Structural Integration, located in Boulder, Colorado, which also has international offices in Germany, Brazil, Japan, and Australia.

Rolfing structural integration has the ability to dramatically alter a person's posture and structure. Athletes, dancers, children, business professionals, and people from all walks of life have benefited from Rolfing. People seek Rolfing as a way to ease pain and chronic stress, and improve performance in their professional and daily activities. Millions of people have received Rolfing work.  More about Rolfing…

Research has demonstrated that Rolfing significantly reduces chronic stress, changes body structure, creates a more efficient use of the muscles, allows the body to conserve energy, and creates more economical and refined patterns of movement.  More about Research

Rolfing Structural Integration for the Professional Athlete

Andrew began working with players in the NFL in 2009. In more recent years has been traveling around the country working with players in the NBA, including giving sessions to athletes at the highest levels of the NBA. Andrew and his wife Lauren work together and have received mentorship from Wayne and Sandy Henningsgaard, who have worked with athletes at this level for over 30 years and continue doing so (featured in the video below). This mentorship includes 4-handed technique training specifically for working with athletes at this level, formatting sessions in this unique context, and specific training for addressing joint issues in these athletes. Rolfing SI has been utilized by athletes in many professional sports for decades and continues to overcome barriers to recognition in professional sports due to medical establishments in these domains. Rolfing SI adds a valuable element to the overall package of treatment, maintenance, and prevention available to these athletes and the approach works synergistically alongside the approaches commonly utilized by these teams, helping to complete the treatment package. For athlete endorsements see Rolfing For the Professional Athlete.

“I was only 30 years old and felt like I was falling apart!  I had been suffering from upper back pain for 4 years and had recently began having shin splints and plantar fasciitis problems as well.  I had been to massage therapists and physical therapists but again the relief was only temporary.  I began noticing changes in my posturing immediately after my first few session with Andrew.  These changes resulted in decreased pain.  Now it has been a year since treatment and I am pain free!!!  I do not have the tension headaches I used to have daily after a long day at work.  I no longer require pressure on my back and neck everyday as I did 1 year ago.  Finally, I do not have shin splints and plantar fasciitis issues anymore.  Thank you Andrew for drastically improving my quality of life!!!!”
