The Dr. Ida Rolf Institute® of Structural Integration

The Dr. Ida Rolf Institute of Structural Integration is the only school, whether in the United States or worldwide, that trains Rolfers™ and Rolf Movement® Practitioners. Certified Rolfers are the only professionals who can provide Rolfing® Structural Integration to the public.

RISI's high standard for candidates, students-in-training, and Rolfers are reflected in its Code of Ethics, Standards of Practice, and continuing education trainings.

To bring the benefits of Rolfing® Structural Integration to the world. This goal is accomplished through providing a quality training program in Rolfing Structural Integration, certifying Rolfers and providing them with continuing education, promoting research and educating the public about the value of Rolfing SI.

The Mission of The Dr. Ida Rolf Institute of Structural Integration

  • To select, train, and certify qualified and competent practitioners of Rolfing Structural Integration.

  • To provide continuing education for Certified Rolfers.

  • To promote programs of research in Rolfing Structural Integration.

  • To educate the general public concerning the principles of structural
    integration and the useful and beneficial nature of Rolfing Structural Integration.

History

Established in 1971, RISI is a nonprofit corporation, organized and existing under the laws of California and Colorado. Recognized by the U.S. Government as a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt, educational and scientific research organization, RISI is headquartered in Boulder, Colorado, and periodically sponsors additional trainings in other locations. RISI has four international licensees They are located in Germany, Japan, Brazil and Canada. The regional offices in Germany, Brazil and Japan independently offer programs compatible with trainings sponsored in the U.S.

Commission on Massage Therapy Accreditation (COMTA)

Important information: The Rolf Institute Rolfing Certification Program is accredited by The Commission on Massage Therapy Accreditation. In order to graduate from an accredited program all three class of the program must be attended at the Rolf Institute in Boulder, CO. International school programs are not accredited by COMTA.

Research

Rolfing Structural Integration has been the subject of research studies at several major universities, including Harvard Medical School, University of California – Los Angeles (UCLA), Stanford School of Medicine and University of São Paulo. Service Mark

In 1979, the United States Patent Office granted service mark rights for the word "Rolfing" to The Rolf Institute of Structural Integration, distinguishing "Rolfing" from all other forms of structural integration. RISI is the sole owner of the trademark "Rolfing", the brand and all its derivatives.
